Vintage 1980's Sanyo personal stereo, made in Japan. Awesome and sought after unit that has had a genuine full service, including BOTH belts (not just the 'easier' outer belt. The entire mechanism has to be stripped down and rebuilt to replace this, which is a specialist job. The original case is included.

Working properly - not like the other 'untested' ones on eBay, or 'working' with a dodgy headphone jack, warbly belt and crackly volume control - the service is worth £100 alone! Many of my listings are copied, so please see my photos (and feedback) for proof of the work and peace of mind.

It has just had 2 new precision belts, head clean and capstan/pinch roller & idler clean ready for sale. The unit has been stripped & cleaned, including the switches, controls and the tape mechanism itself. New belts provide peace of mind, and eliminate the inevitable wow and flutter associated with old, deformed and degrading belts. This has literally just been done to ensure many years of trusted service from the mechanism. Also, the inner belt is crucial for FF and Rewind - this one pulls very strongly with the new belt.

The balance and volume controls are effective. The mute switch has also been cleaned (the 'mute' attenuates the sound to a very low volume (not totally off), to allow conversation while pressed).

The battery cover is present and clips in properly. The battery contacts are in excellent condition, and there is no staining or fraying of the battery ribbon. The LED illuminates nicely.

The unit has been tested with batteries and mains. It is in very nice overall condition as per the photos, and fully working both mechanically and electronically. There are of course signs of use from a 40 year old machine, but nothing is broken or missing, and all 5 case screws are present and tighten properly. The vinyl case has a tiny tear, but nothing major, and the press studs still work. The often lost belt clip is included.
