About Retro Retro Vintage Electronics
Our mission is simple - restoring retro, reliving memories.
We have such fond memories of our childhood - maybe the games we played. Or perhaps the stereo systems our parents had. At Retro Restos Vintage Electronics (RRVE), we have a huge passion for vintage items, and know how important it can be to relive our memories through the sights, sounds and smells of vintage electronics.
All items at RRVE are hand selected. We strive to find only the tidiest and most complete examples possible for restoration or recommissioning, for this provides the best potential to provide clean, complete and authentic units for future enjoyment. You won’t find broken plastics, missing knobs or rusty springs here! All repairs and restorations are documented via means of photos and/or video - and indeed a selection of our repair videos may be found on our YouTube channel, Retro_Restos. We are fast approaching 3,000 subscribers, so head over to see first-hand the care and attention that goes into each and every item!
No matter how original an item is and how carefully it may have been looked after in its previous life, it will have aged - so we always service the items to restore the best possible functionality. This entails a careful strip-down and deep clean, lubrication, interior switch cleaning, new belts and much more as required. Even then, please remember that most items will be 40-50 years old, and there will always be a patina and gentle signs of use that hint at the enjoyment in its original life!
Every cassette mechanism has a service with new precision-ground belts (not just the main belt, but all transfer belts (of which there can be up to 5!), belt path (pinch roller, heads, capstan etc) clean, tape speed check and more. All functions such as music scan, auto stop, etc. will work as intended unless otherwise stated. All knobs, switches, controls, aerials etc are original too - so you know you will receive the item just as you remember it!
All Personal Stereos/Walkmans are hand-selected for condition and completeness. They are deep cleaned, serviced and tested prior to sale. They all receive new belts, switch clean, test of all controls, including balance, volume, radio (where applicable). The headphone socket is tested and joints repaired where required to ensure correct stereo sound through headphones.
A true ‘blast from the past!’ Technology may have moved on, but 8-Track remains a huge part of home and in-car music history. There’s something warm and evocative about inserting a cartridge and the clunk of the ‘track select’ button! All players receive new belts, service and deep clean inside and out.
Where would we be without Astro Wars, Pacman and Galaxy Invader? Vintage hand-helds and tabletop VFD games are the stuff of childhood dreams - so all our games for sale are inspected, serviced and tested - including any new parts required for perfect performance and reliability!
