A rare opportunity to acquire a newly serviced Sanyo personal stereo, made in Japan. Awesome and sought after unit from around 1982, that has had a genuine stripdown and service. This is a highly respected model, and is refreshed to perform as it was designed to do!
It has just had 3 new precision belts (not cheap multipack ones), head clean and capstan/pinch roller clean ready for sale. The unit has been stripped & cleaned, including the switches & controls. It requires disassembly and 16 wires de-soldering to remove the circuit board for belt access - and this is why these units for sale have never had it done. If you can find one that is 'working' it will almost certainly still need new belts after 40 years or more. New belts provide peace of mind, and eliminate the inevitable wow and flutter associated with old, deformed and degrading belts. This has literally just been done to ensure many years of trusted service from the mechanism! The capstan and motor have also been oiled.
The balance and volume controls are crackle free, and it is a very loud unit. All features work perfectly, including cue & review, and the battery LED still illuminates. The hinge is solid and correctly aligned.
The 'Talk' switch has also been cleaned and tested (this engages the external microphone to allow conversation while pressed).
The battery cover is present, and snaps in beautifully. The contacts are in good condition, powering the unit with 4 'AA' batteries (not included) Also included is the original carry strap, plus the metal retaining studs.
The unit has been tested with batteries and mains power (not included). The machine is in lovely condition for 43 years of age, and is structually sound, complete, and fully working both mechanically and electronically. The case is intact and in clean overall condition with no breaks. The press studs snap in securely.
The sale includes the carry strap with locking studs and the very rare cassette pouch. The included box has a polystyrene insert and overall in fair condition for age as shown - a very rare opportunity! .
