A rare opportunity to acquire a newly serviced Sanyo personal stereo, made in Japan. Awesome and sought after unit from around 1981, that has had a genuine stripdown and service (see photos). This is a highly respected model, and is refreshed to perform as it was designed to do.
It has just had new precision belts (not cheap multipack ones), head clean and capstan/pinch roller clean ready for sale. Pulleys have been cleaned, flywheel and motor oiled, etc.
The unit has been stripped & cleaned, including the switches & controls. It requires disassembly and 14 wires de-soldering to remove the circuit board for belt access - and this is why these units for sale have never had it done. If you can find one that is 'working' it will certainly still need new belts after 40 years or more. New belts provide peace of mind, and eliminate the inevitable wow and flutter associated with old, deformed and degrading belts. This has literally just been done to ensure many years of trusted service from the mechanism. Also beware of the many sellers now copying my listings and descriptions, making false claims of 'new belts.'
The balance and volume controls are smooth. All features work perfectly, including cue & review, and the battery LED still illuminates. The hinge is solid and correctly aligned.
The 'Talk' switch has also been cleaned and tested (this engages the external microphone to allow conversation while pressed).
The battery cover is present, and snaps in beautifully. The contacts are clean. Also included is the original carry case with the metal press studs in super condition.
The unit has been tested with batteries (not included). The machine is in gorgeous condition for 45 years of age, and is structurally sound and complete. Please see the photos for actual condition, as they are of the actual unit taken specifically for the sale.
