This listing is for a brand new DC Power Supply for this classic vintage personal cassette player( PLAYER NOT INCLUDED). I service and sell many vintage audio equipment to collectors and hobbyists alike, but batteries can become expensive and most users enjoy their music at home - so a dedicated power supply is preferred for endless listening!

The original power supplies from the 1980’s in working condition are extremely rare, collectible and therefore expensive. In addition, they were often sold as ‘universal’ for other devices at the time, and often provided more power than this particular unit actually requires, thus potentially shortening the lifespan. Not only that, but many original ’adaptor’ power supplies have drifted from the original specification over time - making them even less suitable for use today. Due to technological advances over the last 4 decades since this machine was introduced, this new power supply is much smaller, lighter and portable than an original heavy transformer.

There are 6 principle requirements for the correct power supply:

1. Voltage - Too low will not power the unit. Too high can damage it.

2. Polarity - Incorrect polarity will cause internal damage to the stereo.

3. Fitment - The connection must be of the correct design and size to operate the unit

4. Current - To provide enough continuous power for a steady supply

5. Input voltage - Correct input voltage to plug straight into a UK socket

6. Pin design - Standard UK plug to plug directly and safely into a UK socket

This power supply is matched with all of the above, and therefore requires no switches, selections, slide-in end pieces, etc. It is a 1-piece unit, sealed at both ends with a long (6 foot) cable to reach a decent distance. Literally just plug in, sit down and enjoy your music!

There can be much uncertainty about compatibility of power supplies, and the demonstration serves to show the buyer that this is in fact the correct item to power the unit. 2. The unit is NOT intended for use as a charger. It is offered for sale specifically and exclusively as a DC power supply to the vintage cassette player as advertised. Any reference to the word ‘charger’ in the description or listing is to aid user search, as many people (due to modern terminology and equipment) erroneously refer to, or ask for these as ‘chargers’ - which is not in fact the correct term, as these devices run directly from the regulated DC power supply and do not get ‘charged up.’
