Rare Marantz/Superscope Radio Cassette Recorder. This one has just had a full service - believed to be a unique for this model on the market today. A genuine unit, with all rear casing screws and internal screws original and tightening properly. In very nice original condition.
A lovely portable boombox from the 1970's for the office, home, or simply for decoration, with the benefit of being serviced. The tape mechanism works perfectly in all directions, and the radio is clear. The original aerial is complete and holds it's position well.
The unit has been stripped, all 3 cassette belts renewed with precision-ground DeckTech belts. The heads, capstan, pinch roller, mechanism and controls have also been cleaned and lubricated. Everything works properly and without any crackle.
The FM stereo works perfectly - including the telltale LED, and VU meter to shows the signal strength. It also picks up AM radio.
The handle is intact with the chrome ends. and pivots well.
The battery cover is present. The unit has only been tested on mains power.
It is a vintage item (nearly 50 years old!), so there is of course wear and tear associated with age - but it is overall in very good unusable condition for its vintage to be fair, with original knobs, etc - please see the photos for condition, as they were taken on the day of the listing.
Packaging will be thorough, tracked and insured, although you are very welcome to collect in person, with a demonstration. Please note that the auction is for the stereo only. Cassette and power lead are for demonstration only. The power lead is the readily available 'Figure of 8' cable, so I do not like to risk transit damage by including them with the boomboxes when a brand new one is only about £5.
