Absolutely stunning JVC Vintage Radio Cassette Recorder with 5 Band Radio. A very clean and great sounding example of this super-rare model, which has just been serviced for sale. The frequency response is excellent with the original JVC 'blue cone' woofers plus genuine tweeters with a full sound and clear trebles. Over 40 years old, but looks, performs and sounds fabulous!
A lovely portable boombox from the 1980's for the office, home, or simply for decoration, with the benefit of being serviced. The tape mechanism works perfectly in all directions, and the radio is clear. All controls work perfectly with no crackle.
I have stripped the unit, replaced the cassette belts with precision ground belts (I never use cheap, wobbly ones), cleaned the heads, capstan, pinch roller, mechanism and controls. All controls and switches have been cleaned and lubricated on the board itself. The motor has also been oiled and placed on new mounts. The speed has been calibrated to 3Khz and checked at 3.15Khz and 400Hz, and the head alignment has been checked.
The music scan function has been tested, and works perfectly - scanning the tape for the next/previous track(s), and skipping songs as required.
The VU meter LEDs are clear and work perfectly.
The battery terminals are clean, and the unit has been tested on mains and batteries (not supplied).
There are stereo external mic inputs, and external speaker outputs plus a DIN connector for integration with other units if required.
I picked up lots of clear stations on the FM radio, with a bright FM stereo light and separation. It also has AM radio too, which still works, despite not many stations broadcast there these days. The aerial is present and has been polished & oiled.
A solid, robust unit, and plenty loud for it's size!
The handle is strong and intact, with genuine chrome end caps.
It is a vintage item, so there is of course some patina/wear associated with age - but it is overall in excellent condition for its vintage to be fair, with original knobs, etc - please see the photos for condition, as they were taken on the day of the listing.
A very rare opportunity to pick up a 100% working and original machine in such a clean condition, plus serviced too. I will include a link to my YT channel to show it being fully demonstrated.
